Hearst Castle


William Randolf Hearst named the location where his castle was built, La Cuesta Encantada, the Enchanted Hill. The estate itself is located on 127 developed acres, and includes the main castle and two guest houses. It was a place for Hearst to display his extensive European and Mediterranean art collection. In 1957 the estate was donated to the state of California by the Hearst Corporation.
